About Us
The Learning Disabilities Support Center of New York launched its Adult Learning Center to empower and enrich the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and adult learners to help them become productive members of their communities.
The Center offers computer training such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Internet Research, Multimedia, Internet Security Applications, and other applications needed to further the participant's knowledge and skills in order to make them more marketable for potential employers.
Additionally, GED (General Education Development) and Pre-GED Training are also made available. Classes are small to promote personal attention and individual participation. We believe that by giving individual attention to our participants, they will learn effortlessly to achieve their ultimate goal, which is, to obtain their GED Certificate.
LDSCNY fosters acceptance, individuality and possibility, by presenting individuals with the Keys to Success program. Here, participants get to meet and listen to professionals who chronicle their individual keys to success that made them successful in this competitive, yet possible society. Keys to Success boast professionals such as surgeons, lawyers, nurses, entrepreneurs, and a host of other thriving individuals. LDSCNY further fosters a Healthy Living course which has proven to be a great success for individuals with disabilities. Here individuals chose healthful, nutritional choices which help to maintain nutritional stability, thereby normalizing their well-being.
Our program operates from the Glebe Senior Center at 2125 Glebe Avenue, Bronx, NY 10462. It is unique, in that we cater to the needs of this particular population and students of all ages and backgrounds. LDSCNY is looking to replicate at other facilities so it can reach more consumers with these much needed programs.
